Sandy Angelle comments from Sunday, 3/29/2020

3/30/2020

Dear Friends,
Today the Angelle/Davis family watched Mass for the 5th Sunday of Lent aired from Our Lady of the Valley.  It was a beautiful and especially holy time for us.  The children were attentive and involved in the Liturgy with responses and songs.  Even our pup, Dusty, and our husband/ father/ grandfather (Phil) joined and lent his beautiful voice to the Mass.  And Dusty was as well-behaved as he ever was.  It seemed that all God’s creatures were celebrating today.
After Mass we had a time for discussion and questions or comments.  Mackenzie’s first comment was that she wanted Tess and Amelia to know that she understands the meaning of the name, Lazarus, and that the Gospel showed the hope of resurrection for everyone…hope for the hopeless.  She also needed to clarify why, in the song for preparation of gifts, the lyrics said: “ I will be your God.”  She didn’t realize that it was God who was speaking.  Once that was explained, she saw it clearly.  Fr. Ed, I especially appreciate your naming the candidates for the Sacraments.  I can only imagine how difficult it will be for these young people who have been longing for the meaningful Liturgy of the Easter Vigil to know that they will have a longer wait than we thought.  We must keep them in our prayers especially as they wait for this gift of God’s grace and acceptance into the Community of St. Raphael/Our Lady of the Valley.
After our discussion about the Mass, we each stated our goals for the day.  All of you did a wonderful job producing this video of the Mass.  It was beautiful and well done.  I will spread the word that St. Raphael/OLV are really coming together to keep our parishioners in touch with each other and with the Eucharist.  We are grateful for your spiritual leadership during this very trying time in our history.

Sincerely,

Sandy

He is Risen! Alleluia!! Today the Angelle/Davis family celebrated fully in the Easter Mass from OLV. With worship aids printed and in hand, we prayed, sang, responded and listened to the wonderful celebration of Christ’s resurrection! What an experience!!! As I told the children after Mass…this is an experience we will remember all of our lives. From the opening, the beautiful environment spoke “EASTER”!! You left nothing undone!

The music, the outstanding proclamations of God’s Word and Fr. Ed’s perfect homily were all very much appreciated by one and all. We were ALL present: mother, father and three children (and of course, our pup Dusty); and grandfather and grandmother. That was our domestic church this Easter! Everyone sang heartily, including Max. I really think that Dusty loved the music because he was quietly curled up with his bunny from his Easter basket and listening the whole time.

Our thanks and Easter wishes to everyone who worked so hard to bring this celebration to our home! We will continue to be church together with the entire Our Lady of the Valley and St. Raphael family until we come through this difficult time and can be together once again.

In the afternoon, Bill and Virginia Cerjak called us telling us to go outside to our gate. They were in their truck with a beautiful Easter poster wishing us a Happy Easter. We threw kisses and good wishes and smiled, grateful for their thoughtful gesture.

God Bless us, everyone!

Sandy
